Shark Alert February 3, 2010
The Region 1 Championship Meet (Fri.-Mon., February 12-15) at Union College
is a little more than 1 week away! This non age-group, senior
level-type meet is hosted by SSC. On-line Parent Work Sign-up
Sheets for this meet have been posted on the SSC website. Each
family with entered swimmers is expected to sign-up and work at least
one shift per day for each day that your swimmer is entered in the
meet. Help from other team families would also be greatly
appreciated-even one shift would be great! This is a fast, exciting
meet to watch, with Pool & District records being broken in
previous years! You can bring your swimmer in their Shark t-shirt
to watch or help and cheer on the team. Volunteering to help at the
meet is also a great way to earn community service credit for those
students that need them. Also, job slots are available for lane
timers for some of the sessions. Concession Donation sign-up sheets
have also been posted on-line as well. Please sign-up to bring a
food/drink donation (Gatorade, bottled water, pasta salad, etc.) to the
meet. Your donations are greatly appreciated!
Silver Championships will be held March 5-7 at RPI.
The Silver Psych Party will be held in the Cafeteria at Burnt
Hills-Ballston Lake HS immediately following practice on Wednesday,
March 3rd. Practice for both sites (Skidmore & BH-BL/Union)
will be held at BH-BL that day.
Gold Championships will be held March 19-21 at RPI.
The Gold Psych Party will be held in the Cafeteria at Burnt
Hills-Ballston Lake HS immediately following practice on Wednesday,
March 17th. Practice for both sites (Skidmore & BH-BL/Union) will
be held at BH-BL that day.
The Spring Banquet will be held on Tuesday, March 30th at the Vista Restaurant in Jonesville/Clifton Park.
Reservation information and forms will be posted and distributed in
late February. Don’t miss this end-of-season event for swimmers and
their families!
The Deadline for Ordering the 2009-2010 SSC Team Photo is March 10, 2010.
If you have not already placed your photo order, you may do so by
mailing a check made payable to “SSC”, by March 10th to: Victor
Romanov, 2060 Cook Rd., Charlton, NY 12019. Please indicate the
number of Team Photos that you wish to order. Photos are $9.00 each.
Team Photos will be distributed at the Spring Banquet.
As Championship season approaches, please remember to check your suits & equipment. If
you are need of new suits or equipment, please contact our Equipment
Manager, Mark Duchesne at kmduchesne@msn.com. Mark will also be
available with Team equipment at both the Gold & Silver Psych
Parties.
The Deadline for Ads and Sponsorships for the upcoming Gold Championships is March 8th.
Please note that you receive 50% credit of the ad value that you obtain
in credit toward future registration. Ad info can be found in the
front pocket of your Blue Book. If you have questions or if you

Spring and Summer Session Registration Materials will be mailed to all swimmers in March.
Spring session will begin following spring break in April and summer
session will begin in June. Tryouts for those interested in
joining the team for spring and/or summer, or swimming Pre-Competitive,
will be held in April. Tryout information will be posted on our
website. If you know anyone who is interested, have them contact
us and we will send them the information they need.
The Deadline for Mailing Zones Applications is March 1, 2010! Late
applicants can’t displace on-time applicants who achieve qualifying
times. If you have any questions whether you should be submitting a
Zones application for your child, please see your child’s Group
coach. Board members and Group liaisons are also available to
answer general questions regarding Zones.
